FedEx has announced significant progress in its sustainability efforts across the Asia Pacific region, citing a successful Fiscal Year 2025 marked by fleet electrification, renewable energy integration, and a substantial increase in employee volunteerism.

The company’s initiatives are part of its broader commitment to achieve carbon-neutral global operations by 2040. In the past fiscal year, FedEx expanded its electric vehicle (EV) fleet in key markets and saw a remarkable 20% year-on-year jump in employee participation in community projects.

“At FedEx, we are committed to leading responsibly, driving change forward, and channeling innovation to deliver a brighter future for the people and communities we serve and the planet we share,” said Kawal Preet, President, Asia Pacific, FedEx. “In today’s climate-conscious business environment, our investments in expanding an electric vehicle fleet and integrating renewable energy across the Asia Pacific region reflect our long-term vision for sustainability.”

Advancing sustainable operations:

With vehicle emissions accounting for a quarter of its carbon footprint in Fiscal Year 2024, FedEx has made fleet electrification a core pillar of its decarbonization strategy.

The company’s global EV deployment grew to 8,018 on- and off-road vehicles by the start of the fiscal year. This momentum continued in FY25 with strategic expansions in Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, and Thailand. A notable highlight was the introduction of the first fleet of six electric cargo vans in Korea to serve high-traffic areas in Seoul and Busan.

Beyond EVs, FedEx is leveraging smart technology, including the AI-powered Stops Sequencing tool, to optimize delivery routes, reduce mileage, and minimize carbon emissions. The company is also integrating renewable energy into its facilities. In Singapore, the South Pacific Regional Hub now uses solar energy to power more than half of its total electricity demands, creating a synergistic loop with its EV fleet charging.

Empowering the community:

FedEx’s commitment to sustainability extends to community engagement through its global FedEx Cares program.

The company reported a significant strengthening of its community impact, with volunteer participation in sustainability-focused projects increasing by 14%. Employees across the region took part in a wide array of initiatives, from planting over 3,465 trees and native plants to restoring mangrove forests in Indonesia and cleaning up riverbanks in Japan.

The annual Purple Tote Campaign saw over 800 team members contribute more than 1,000 volunteer hours to collect and donate essential supplies, impacting over 1,600 beneficiaries in collaboration with 20 non-profit organizations. The company also expanded its Library Program in China, providing educational resources to approximately 9,000 children and teachers in rural and underserved areas.

Furthermore, FedEx continues to foster future talent through its annual International Trade Challenge in partnership with Junior Achievement Asia Pacific. The FY25 competition challenged over 4,700 students to develop market entry strategies for products that contribute to a circular economy, equipping them with valuable entrepreneurial skills.

“Through initiatives like FedEx Cares, we are empowering communities, creating opportunities, and championing a more sustainable and inclusive future for all,” said Kawal Preet.
