NTPC Ltd has partnered with Sustainable Energy for All or SEforALL to jointly develop a comprehensive clean energy transition roadmap.
The collaboration marks a crucial step in aligning NTPC’s strategic vision with India’s ambitious net-zero emissions target by 2070.
The agreement will see SEforALL, an international organization working in partnership with the UN, support NTPC in mapping out its short-, mid-, and long-term strategic horizons.
The collaboration involves modelling various scenarios, estimating investment needs for clean energy projects, identifying diversification opportunities within NTPC’s portfolio, and assessing the socio-economic impacts of transitioning to cleaner energy systems.
Gurdeep Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, NTPC, emphasized the importance of this collaboration. “Our aim is to foster responsible, sustainable economic development through an energy strategy that champions energy security, social inclusiveness, environmental stewardship, and growth powered by data, technology, and innovation,” he said. “This agreement positions us to meet the rising demand from communities and industry while keeping us at the leading edge of the energy transition.”
Damilola Ogunbiyi, CEO and Special Representative, UN Secretary-General for Sustainable Energy for All, said, “India continues to show climate leadership on the global stage, moving beyond commitment to concrete actions while demonstrating that the energy transition in emerging countries can coexist alongside economic development,” she remarked. “We are excited to support NTPC to co-create a net-zero roadmap for the energy giant of India.”
