New Relic, the Intelligent Observability company, has just released its fourth annual Impact Report for fiscal year 2025. The report highlights the company’s significant progress in sustainability, AI governance, and technology education, reflecting its commitment to responsible growth and innovation.
Among its key accomplishments, New Relic secured approval from the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) for its near-term climate goals aligned with the most ambitious 1.5°C global warming pathway. This includes reducing Scope 1 and Scope 3 emissions, notably through initiatives like migrating workloads to AWS Graviton-based cloud infrastructure, which cut emissions by 37% while improving compute efficiency.
CEO Ashan Willy stated, “Positive impact and responsible business is at the core of how New Relic operates and develops its technology. Our progress in climate action, AI governance, and educational access shows that growth and integrity go hand in hand.”
In education, New Relic expanded access for early-career technologists by partnering with GitHub Education and Platzi. This program delivered free access to over 80 software tools and training resources, benefiting millions of students across Latin America and supporting the development of the next generation of tech professionals.
On AI governance, the company launched a comprehensive compliance program aligned with the EU Artificial Intelligence Act, the pioneering global regulation for AI. This initiative encompasses internal policies, implementation strategies, and educational materials to promote responsible AI innovation. Additionally, New Relic implemented customer-centric AI safeguards such as retrieval-augmented generation techniques to limit the use of customer data in AI training and enhanced AI monitoring capabilities for compliance support.
New Relic also reinforced its commitment to social impact and inclusion by launching a Global Impact Challenge that encouraged employee volunteering and donations to nonprofits. In FY25, over half of its employees contributed nearly 6,000 volunteer hours. The company earned a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign’s 2025 Corporate Equality Index and received the “Leader in LGBTQ+ Workplace Inclusion” Equality 100 Award, reflecting its dedication to fostering an inclusive workplace.
The full Impact Report details these achievements and underscores New Relic’s strategy to lead responsibly in technology innovation while addressing critical environmental, social, and governance challenges.
