Infosys has updated its Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) Vision for 2030, building upon its initial commitments made in 2020.

The revised framework outlines bolder aspirations across key areas, including climate change, water and waste management, digital skilling, workplace inclusivity, community engagement, employee well-being, and corporate governance.

The updated ESG goals for 2030 include several new targets. Infosys aims to achieve climate-positive status by 2030, a goal that involves implementing initiatives across Scope 1, 2, and 3 GHG emissions to reduce its carbon footprint. This target intends to sequester more carbon from the atmosphere than the company emits, moving beyond net-zero while remaining carbon neutral until 2029.

In social development, the company plans to extend digital skills to empower over 18 million people, encompassing employees, clients’ workforces, students, teachers, and communities.

The company also intends to amplify communities through various Tech for Good initiatives, job creation, and CSR efforts, including employee volunteering, healthcare interventions, and women’s empowerment programs. This initiative is projected to enable employment opportunities for more than 500,000 individuals.

Additionally, the updated vision reinforces commitments to corporate governance, emphasizing the continued prioritization of stakeholder interests through an empowered, diverse, and inclusive board.

Infosys also reiterated its aim to shape and embrace leading data privacy standards across its global operations and maintain its position as an industry leader in information security practices.

Salil Parekh, Chief Executive Officer, Infosys, said that the ESG 2030 roadmap serves as a blueprint for pioneering responsible business leadership. He said the company’s progress on existing ESG goals and the resulting expansion of its future vision, while affirming Infosys’s commitment to good governance and its purpose of amplifying human potential.

Meanwhile, key achievements highlighted by Infosys include achieving carbon neutrality for the sixth consecutive year in FY25.

The company also reported an increase of 4.3 billion liters in water holding capacity through 11 lake rejuvenation projects in India over FY24 and FY25.

Furthermore, Infosys stated that over 125 million lives have been empowered through its TechForGood programs in e-governance, healthcare, and education, and 13.3 million people have been reached through digital skilling initiatives.

The company noted its recognition as one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies by Ethisphere for the fifth consecutive year and its status as the first India-headquartered company to receive Binding Corporate Rules (BCR) approval from EU data protection authorities.
