Foeth has acquired Intimac.
The acquisition of Intimac, a prominent Italian dealer specializing in pharmaceutical and packaging machinery, allows Foeth to bridge a critical gap in its service offerings.
While Foeth has historically excelled in heavy process equipment like mixers and reactors, the addition of Intimac’s inventory adds specialized formulation and packaging systems to its portfolio. Based in Barasso, Italy, Intimac brings approximately 1,000 machines into the group, bringing Foeth’s total stock to over 3,800 units across its European sites.
Scaling the circular economy:
Central to the merger is the drive toward industrial sustainability. By giving machines a second life, Foeth estimates that customers avoid significant carbon footprints. On average, purchasing a refurbished machine avoids roughly 4.4 tons of CO₂ emissions compared to the production of new equipment. This sustainability angle was a primary driver for the deal’s financing, which was backed by Kartesia’s Impact Fund and Golding Capital Partners—marking Kartesia’s first impact investment in the Benelux region.
Professionalizing a fragmented industry:
The used machinery market has traditionally relied on fragmented personal networks and lacked digital transparency. Foeth’s strategy focuses on professionalizing the sector through e-commerce and standardized refurbishment processes.
Following the acquisition, Foeth will operate with a workforce of over 70 employees across eight countries, positioning itself to support both established multinational corporations and emerging start-ups looking for cost-effective, sustainable ways to scale production.
“Companies are often unaware that their machines can be reused, even in other industries, and that selling them contributes to the still nascent circular economy. This acquisition allows us to support customers across the entire pharmaceutical value chain—from production through to packaging—enabling them to scale faster and more sustainably,” said Michiel Schreurs, CEO, Foeth.
“By joining forces with Foeth, we can convince an increasing number of industrial companies to adopt circular practices and reduce their emissions by using refurbished machines. Together, we are creating a globally operating platform that is a driving force for sustainable industry,” said Sergio Ferretto Clementi, CEO, Intimac.
