Sustainability has firmly secured its place as a top-three priority for global business leaders, ranking alongside technology adoption and artificial intelligence (AI). The findings come from the Deloitte Global 2025 C-suite Sustainability Report, compiled after surveying more than 2,100 executives in 27 countries.
The report highlights that C-suite leaders are not only prioritizing sustainability but are increasingly recognizing its strong business case. Investments in sustainable actions have risen over the past year, with revenue generation cited as the most frequently reported business benefit.
AI and investment drive progress:
The survey results show a direct link between sustainable actions and tangible results across industries and continents. Technology and AI are identified as critical enablers, helping organizations transform their efforts to create lasting business value and a more resilient future.
However, the report also acknowledges that companies face ongoing challenges. These include the complexity of measuring environmental impact, managing diverse stakeholder demands, and identifying the most effective sustainable solutions.
Integrating strategy for future resilience:
The opportunity now lies with forward-thinking leaders to fully integrate their sustainability strategy with core business drivers.
Jennifer Steinmann, Global Sustainability Business leader, Deloitte, emphasized this necessity. She said, “Forward-thinking leaders have an opportunity to assess whether their sustainability strategy and investments are integrated with key performance drivers, material risks, and strategic priorities—helping ensure they continue delivering value and operational resilience into the future.”
The report said that by adopting AI and increasing investments, organizations are building resilience today to help shape the next wave of business value for the future.
