India is gearing up to present its third voluntary national review (VNR) on the sustainable development goals (SDGs) at the upcoming United Nations High-Level Political Forum (HLPF) in New York.
The presentation will provide a detailed overview of India’s progress in poverty eradication, healthcare, education, clean energy, and climate action, highlighting its journey towards achieving the 2030 Agenda.
NITI Aayog, India’s leading policy think tank, will lead a comprehensive review of the country’s SDG roadmap, coordinating efforts across various ministries and stakeholders.
India’s VNR aims to articulate national progress towards SDGs, identify improvement areas, promote learning, and facilitate partnerships with subnational and local administrations, civil society organizations, and the private sector.
As a signatory to the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, India is steadfast in its commitment to the global effort to achieve a more sustainable future. The VNR serves as a crucial mechanism for countries to voluntarily report on their advancements towards these universal goals, fostering transparency and accountability on the international stage.
India previously presented its VNRs in 2017 and 2020. The 2020 review notably emphasized the “Decade of Action” and underscored India’s proactive efforts to implement the SDGs at the local level, demonstrating a strong grassroots approach to sustainable development.
