Cairn Oil & Gas achieved a significant 89,770 tonnes of CO₂e emissions reduction in FY25, equivalent to the annual carbon sequestration capacity of 4.5 million trees. Cairn Oil & Gas, a Vedanta Group company and India’s largest private oil and gas exploration and production firm, has released its FY25 Sustainability Report, titled Inspiring Actions, Fostering Impact. Over the past five years, the company recorded a cumulative 305,220 tonnes of CO₂e reduction. This is equivalent to 15 million trees—alongside conserving 3.11 million GJ of energy.

Environmental Stewardship
Cairn planted approximately 800,000 trees and mangroves across Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Andhra Pradesh, progressing toward a 2 million-tree goal by 2030, while achieving a 57% reduction in gas flaring volumes over five years and maintaining water positivity with an NPWI Index of 1.18 in FY25. Over 98% of FY25 waste was diverted for material or energy recovery. As India’s first oil and gas firm to join UNEP’s OGMP 2.0 in 2024, it pledged a 30% absolute methane emissions cut over five years and secured ‘Gold Standard Pathway’ status.
Social and Governance Advances
Social programs impacted 195 million lives in healthcare, education, agriculture, and skills across Rajasthan, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh, and Assam over five years. Gender diversity reached 22% organization-wide and in decision-making roles, targeting 30% by 2030. Safety performance ranked top-10 per IOGP 2024 data, with a 90% reduction in lost time injury frequency over five years.
